Kvist Industries - we shape it all!
50 years of experience
The potentials of molded wood has been an inspiration for designers all over the world with great results. A wide range of the best-known furniture is based on this exact technique. Through nearly 50 years, Kvist Industries has worked with this molded wood technology. It demands considerable know-how, not only in production, but to an equal degree for manufacturing tools, as all tools are manufactured by our own capacities. We work in both beech, birch, and oak veneer with all sorts of surfaces, i.e. oak, ash, walnut, laminate, paper etc.
Molding have possibilities
Molded items are used in the major part of designing furniture both old classics, but also in new designs. Molding is not only used for furniture, we also supply for the HIFI-business as well, as another kind of industry for example in sorting systems.
From idea to sale!
At Kvist, we produce all kinds of molding, either as seats, backs, shelves or frame components. We often deliver a complete solution to our partner, where we are able to include the material of our primary wood, but also final design wrapped in a final sales package (in close development with our customer), ready for distribution to our customers.
Kvist is the synonym for availability and open dialogue.
We started more than 100 years ago
A large number of solid wood furniture placed around in homes has been produced by Kvist for more than 100 years. Kvist has played an important role in the production of well-known designed furniture and also in new design style.
A typical company feature: a modern machinery park expressed in particular by using a modern CNC technologies being valued by experienced team of employees. All this has given us at Kvist Industries a substantial know-how, which is put into good use when we are starting up new projects in close cooperation with our customers.
Developing components and complete solutions
Developing specific new models poses great challenges, which we solve in our precisely built model workshop in close connection with our customers and architects. We perform in beech, oak, ash, maple, or any other type of wood that the customer wish for their specific furniture.
At Kvist, we offer specific and variable solutions that fits individual customers as our goal is to be the leading partner both for components in solid wood as well in complete solutions. This we are able to do based on long-standing close cooperation with our partners.
Chipboard, MDF, plywood, melamine and compact laminate panels with surfaces in particular laminate, melamine, veneer, and linoleum.
Wide range of possibilities
In 2004, Kvist Industries took over the production of Fritz Hansen´s famous ellipse table designed by Piet Hein/Arne Jacobsen. Today, we produce a wide range of furniture for large customers and some of the largest furniture brands count Fredericia Furniture, HAY, BoConcept, to mention a few.
Kvist tabletop production is equipped with modern CNC machines that convert almost all materials: chipboard, MDF, plywood, melamine and compact laminate panels with surfaces in particular laminate, melamine, veneer, and linoleum. These machines make it possible to cut and shape the furniture, which in earlier days was made by handcraft.
The plates are processed with edges in solid aluminum, wood, ABS or painted edge and they are offered up to 1590 mm in width and 3000 mm in length. Kvist offers items ranging from sub-component to the complete solution, packed in the commercial package. Contact our Key Account team today!

The Forest Stewardship Council®
The Forest Stewardship Council® is a certification program for all companies handling wood and wood products in various forms - from the sawmill to the retailer. The certification is adapted to the position of the company in the supply chain and sets requirements not only to traceability of the wood material, but also to the use of pesticides, securing indigenous people’s rights and biodiversity, work safety and sustainable management of the forest, meaning, that trees, that are used to manufacture the wood are not just cut out, but are replaced with new trees. The process of cutting trees pays attention to the way it is done, so there is no harm to the wildlife and nature.
Kvist Industries is certified according to the multisite CoC standard, and are certified to sell furniture with an FSC® 70% Mix claim and to a less extent an FSC® 100% claim. We have an ambition to change all our purchased materials into FSC certified materials by the end of 2020 in all of ours manufacturing sites.
Through our FSC certification, we help our customers to promote sustainable forestry as well as ensure proper social conditions for indigenous people in the forest areas and for forest workers. We work strategically with our FSC certification and have included FSC in our strategy for the UN's 17 Sustainble Development Goals, especially #15 Life on land.

The EU Ecolabel promotes the circular economy, thinking by setting environmental demands in production. When it comes to furniture manufacturing, there are many requirements to fulfill in order to receive Ecolabel. Once it’s on our products, that specific product EU Ecolabel guarantees that:
- any virgin wood used comes from legal sustainably managed forest,
- the use of hazardous substances is restricted,
- harmful residues in any upholstery are limited,
- the product has low formaldehyde emissions.
Kvist Industries can provide products and services with EU Ecolabel - meeting the environmental standards throughout whole life-cycle: from extraction of raw material to production and distribution as well as to taking care for all of the needed documentation.
Kvist aims to limit the environmental impact as much as possible in all production facilities. With the EU Ecolabel, the effort is documented to minimize the use of hazardous chemicals and heavy metals. For plastic shells at least 30% recycled plastic has to be used; here single requests have to be handled. Kvist expects to be compliant with products made of wood/upholstery/steel within the year 2020.
At Kvist, we are convinced by the belief that sustainable development is the balance between creating countless opportunities without endangering the future generations to do the same. We continuously strive for sustainable quality in all our activities. Sustainable thinking aims for solutions, where high quality, education and all aspects of sustainability are equally important. At Kvist, we never compromise on quality or working environmentally safe, while creating sustainable solutions.

VOC emissions are reducing by a quarter due to lacquer replacements!
The EU Ecolabel criteria for furniture includes requirements for lacquers and paints that sets limits on the level of environmentally harmful emissions to minimise content of hazardous substances and reduce the content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
At KVIST, we are beginning to use waterborne lacquers that only contain around 5% VOC (previously 75-80% for solventborne lacquers) and therefore the emissions have been decreased significantly in the vents of the painting and varnishing chambers in our production facilities. Due to these replacements, it can be observed that total VOC emissions are reducing by quarter, as we see within three years of measuring the emissions in several production units. In the spray painting stations where the solventborne lacquers are replaced with waterborne lacquers, VOC emissions have been reduced with over 90% in comparison to last year.

Green certificates on energy
A green certificate is our guarantee that the electricity we purchase is produced using renewable energy sources. We are very excited to raise awareness of the importance of greener solutions, because small changes could make life better and at the same time greener. From now on all electricity in factories in Denmark and Latvia is now certified green. The electricity used at the factory in Latvia mainly comes from hydroelectric power plants and in Denmark the main electricity source is wind turbines.
LIFE Fit for REACH project
In the end of year 2019, Kvist Latvia took part in the LIFE Fit for REACH project, LIFE14 ENV/LV/000174. Due to the project support, the company initiated pilot activities and actions for switching to water-based paints and reduce the use of hazardous substances in daily work. The activities are implemented with the support of the Baltic Environmental Forum and the project "Baltic pilot cases on reduction of emissions by substitution of hazardous chemicals and resource efficiency" co-financed by the LIFE Programme of the European Union and State Regional Development Agency of Latvia.
LIFE Fit for REACH is an international project that helps companies in the Baltic States improve their chemicals management and implement substitution of hazardous chemicals with safer alternatives. More information can be found here: http://fitreach.eu/
ISO 9001 Quality Management
To prove our commitment to high product standards KVIST quality management system is certified according to ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
One of our main principles for documentation that is requested by this standard – we do what we write, and we write what we do to ensure the flow of standard operations in order to improve the quality of the products and services, and to consistently meet our customers expectations.
Nevertheless, we respect the real creators of furniture – craftsmanship and skills of our employees that can be gained only with training and hard work.
With the local actions, we can support global goals for more sustainable future!
KVIST customers have the opportunity to label their products produced by KVIST with the small, but very proud FSC® label. This small, but important label has a great stories to tell! In fact, it’s one of the ways we’re supporting progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the cooperation with FSC® certification for more sustainable future for next generations. Several activities we initiate in KVIST goes hand-in-hand with the UN goals that are naturally interlinked with our coorporation with FSC®.

In-house testing for product development
As a manufacturer it is important for us that we test our seating products using standardized test methods that provide essential data about its potential capabilities in a given environment and market. Contract seating in the UK and Europe is almost always compelled to extensive testing, as this is usually a requirement of the purchasers of such furniture, therefore, it is important to be sure of a given type of seating's limitations in these environments.
Kvist has opportunity to offer in-house testing for seating items according to national, European, British and international standards to give our customer confidence that furniture fits for purpose and is safe to use. Our in-house test equipment can be used before seating item is sent to the testing institutions in order to obtain a strength certificate from third party institution.
When we are performing an in-house test, we are basically testing stability of the unit, structural strength and durability of the unit.
